Manufacture
of cups and saucers began in about October 1871, and items made before October
1877 were unmarked. Thereafter, all saucers were
impressed with both 'Brownfield' and a month and year date (11/80 = November
1880.)
Some shapes were used for many different patterns and, remarkably,
that used for the trembleuse produced over seventy five different
patterns between 1877 and 1890. The same pattern (Imari '931') appears
on over a dozen different products - some plates, some cups and saucers,
a covered soup bowl and a trembleuse.
