Between 1837-1864, approximately 16,400 earthenware patterns were introduced.  A new pattern numbering system was inaugurated, reaching over 9,000 by 1892 when Brownfield's was replaced by the Brownfield Co-Operative Guild.

Few items from the 1840s are found with clear marks.  Those from the 1850s and 1860s usually have a printed mark or impressed registration diamond.  After 1871 most items were impressed 'Brownfield' with a month and year date.  A printed mark 'Brownfield & Son' indicates post 1871.
